She ultimately found her home in family medicine, appreciating the history of a counterculture specialty and a philosophy that centers individual experience within family, community, and structural contexts. She also joined the PCAR Lab at the Seattle Childrens Research Institute as a research assistant and continued to participate in their research throughout the rest of her schooling.
